About Us

The Jordan Atomic Energy Commission (JAEC) was established at the beginning of 2008, in line with the National Energy Strategy. Its focus is the peaceful uses of nuclear energy and radiation technology throughout Jordan, with an aim to enhance and develop its applications in the country, and to establish investment projects to serve the Jordanian economy in various sectors, including electricity generation, water desalination, agriculture, industry, and medicine.

The Commission is linked to the Prime Minister, and it is represented externally by the Chairman of the Board of Commissioners. The Commissioners' Board consists of a President and four Commissioners, who oversee each Commission:

  1. Nuclear Research Reactors Commission
  2. Nuclear Fuel Cycle Commission
  3. Nuclear Science and Applications Commission
